 Naturalist Position


Duties:

  • Work with children of all age ranges and adults
  • Hike trails with students in all types of weather
  • Create curriculum for new field trips, summer camps, programs
  • Research history and nature topics for programs
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of plants, trees, and animals
  • Represent the Nature Center for public relations
  • Plan, organize, participate in all special events
  • Design and install displays in the Nature Center
  • Must be willing to work some weekends and potentially overnight programs
  • Attend all Nature Center meetings
  • Must be comfortable handling and talking about a variety of reptiles, amphibians, insects and other animals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Must be prompt, responsible, friendly, works well with other teachers, parents of students, etc
  • Customer service experience is key
  • Spanish speaker is a plus

The position is part time, compensation is $10 an hour 

Must have experience with education in a formal and/or informal setting and have an appreciation for the idea of children learning through nature. Must be comfortable with and able to hike for up to 4 hours a day with students outside in ALL weather conditions. Must be trained and certified in CPR/First Aid and have current certification. Must be able to pass a background check.

Summer Youth Workers

 

VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS


Qualifications:


The Park District is seeking youth workers to participate in various nature related activities during the months of June, July and August 2014. Youth between the ages of 14-18 will assist in various park maintenance, summer camp programs, horticultural center, golf course maintenance and various other park activities. No previous qualifications are necessary.

Additionally supervisors are needed. Supervisors do not need any previous experience but must 19 years or older.

A total of 40 youth positions and 4 supervisor positions are eligible to be filled. Funding has been provided through a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Salary Range: Youth Workers - $9.00/hr, Supervisors - $12.00/hr

Up to 40 hours per week through 8/31/2014

 Part-Time Dance/ and or Pom Coach

The Joliet Park District is seeking a Dance Coach with experience instructing recreation dance classes and/or coaching a competitive dance and or pom team. Looking for a self-motivated individual who enjoys working with children. Applicants must have knowledge of dance routines/ choreography for beginning to competitive levels in modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, parent/tot and ballroom dance. This is a part-time position working evenings and weekends. Must be available to continue with instruction through Fall of 2014. Part-Time Gymnastics Coach

The Joliet Park District is seeking a Gymnastics Coach with experience instructing recreation gymnastic classes and/or coaching a competitive gymnastics team. Looking for a self-motivated individual who enjoys working with children. Applicants must have knowledge of USAG routines for levels 3-6 and knowledge of gymnastics choreography. This is a part-time position working evenings and weekends. USAG safety certification is preferred. If interested, please fill out an application.

 


Swim Lesson Instructor

The Joliet Park District is seeking swim lesson instructors for their American Red Cross swim lesson program. Looking for someone who enjoys working with children, has a love for the water, and is self-motivated to lead young swimmers through learn-to-swim skills. Sessions are evenings and Saturday mornings.  A Part-Time Tumble Bee Instructor

The Joliet Park District is looking for a part-time instructor to teach our Tumble Bee classes.  Instructor will teach parent/tot classes along with tot only classes.  Children will range in age from 1 – 5 years.  Early Childhood experience a plus, but will train the right candidate.  Instructor must be responsible, outgoing and able to motivate the class.  Perfect candidates will be fun, highly energetic and must have an animated personality.  Applicants must be 18 years or older.
